Mark came to him that night.

It had gone one a.m. Riley lay awake in the dark and heard the soft tread of his feet on the stairs. He was naked under the sheets and already hard. The answer was a long time coming. “Partially. Maybe when I’m finished I’ll be satisfied. Maybe not. It won’t bring Owen back or give his children the father they lost.”

“So why go on? You already have the one who pulled the trigger.”

“There’ll be other triggers as long as Jack and Ronnie are around. The job is worth doing right. And I always finish what I start.”
